Holidaying in Hurghada / Serry Beach Resort

With its incredible beaches and rich marine life, Hurghada is a top choice for holidaying in Egypt. There is a wide selection of hotels you can choose from, which operate on All-inclusive basis.

For our holiday we chose Serry Beach Resort, a premium 5 star hotel in Hurghada.

I usually read lots of reviews on Tripadvisor and Booking.com before choosing a hotel, especially if it's for a holiday. Serry Beach Resort is still a new hotel, opened in 2023. The hotel has a bunch of excellent reviews and superlatives, plus it looks stunning, so it was not difficult to become our choice for our one week all-inclusive holiday.

The hotel looks spectacular in every area. Aesthetically is very appealing and the design is beautiful and modern, focused on minimalism and neutral color palette - white, beige and black.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Common areas are well maintained and clean.

In the evening, the hotel becomes very cozy and romantic with dim light and candles in the restaurants. They play lounge Arabic music during the day and at night which was very calming.

They have several à la carte restaurants included in the all-inclusive package, where you can dine with reservation. If you go only for drinks, no reservation is required.

The main restaurant Sofra, serves food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is good and there is a selection of different tastes and dishes.

The golden sand beach is also beautiful with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The water is calm and shallow. The hotel never feels overcrowded and you can always find a place both on the beach and the pool.

The evenings at the hotel are calm with Arabic music, belly dancing, dervish and magician shows. The rooftop terrace is the place where after dinner you go and watch the shows.

Naz Cabaret has a very nice atmosphere with interesting dancing performances, mainly belly dancing. Drinks and food here are not free and you pay for them.

The animation and entertainment at the hotel are not loud. The focus is to provide more relaxing ambiance for the guests.

You may decide to use the SPA centre and the Gym, attend the sunrise yoga, join the daily pottery class, go snorkeling, play tennis or volleyball on the beach .

In overall, the hotel is stunning but not perfect. There are some drawbacks that you see in the course of your stay.

First thing I want to point out is the hotel's pool which is the heart of the resort. Even though the pool is designed very beautifully, and only two years of exploitation have passed, it already needs renovation in my opinion. Half of the pool's bottom is peeling off and it is not nice. In the last day of our stay the water was kind of greenish which was strange.

On the positive side, the lounge beds are very comfortable and the staff are very nice. They bring you cocktails and drinks upon your request. Sometimes in the main restaurant they may forget about your drinks so you have to ask again.

There is also a small kids pool next to the beach which is nice and quiet.

In regards to customer service, they have plenty of staff and most of them are trying hard to deliver high level of service. However, sometimes you may get disappointed.

For example, on our check-in we were served in a very kind and professional manner. Once settled in the room, I called the reception to request more hangers, they said ok, and then nobody brought hangers. Later on, we noticed that there was no hot water. We called several times the reception and nobody answered. So, we had to go to the reception and report the problem there. They immediately sent a technician and the problem was solved very quickly. But the question is why they didn't fix the problem before our arrival and prevent this annoying situation.

We also noticed some stains in the furniture in the room and in the white couches in the reception hall.

Other issue in the room was the air conditioner and the fan. They were very noisy. During the day this was not a problem but at night it certainly was.

Housekeeping don't clean your room every day unless you tell them and you put a sign on the door that you need cleaning.

In summary, Serry Beach Resort is a wonderful and aesthetically very beautiful hotel. When it comes to details you may encounter some issues, but despite this, it is a great place for your holiday in Egypt.

Popular spots like Giftun Island and the Abu Ramada reef reveal stunning underwater landscapes, teeming with vibrant coral gardens and fascinating marine creatures, including dolphins, turtles, and over 1,200 species of fish. Many local dive centers provide guided tours and rent equipment, making it easy for everyone to explore the underwater landscape.

In fact, the visibility in the Red Sea can reach up to an impressive 30 meters, providing a clear view of the vibrant ecosystems below.

Cultural Experiences

While known for its beautiful beaches and water sports, Hurghada also offers interesting cultural sights and vibrant social scene.

Discover some of the popular attractions the city is popular with:

Visit the Grand Mosque, a place of worship located in the city center near the marina. Its interior is as beautiful as its exterior, making it one of Hurghada's top must-sees.

Non-muslims are also allowed to enter the mosque. Women need to put on hijab that can be obtained from the mosque.

You can also explore the Coptic Orthodox church Saint Shenouda. With its impressive architecture the church stands out as one of the beautiful monuments in the city worth visiting.

Hurghada Museum is another place worth visiting where you can see treasures from Ancient Egypt and discover archeological finds from other eras and civilizations including the Coptic Era and the Islamic Golden Age.

The fascinating Mini Egypt Park Hurghada offers 55 of Egypt’s most famous landmarks—all in miniature. Located in Makadi Bay, it is a very popular tourist attraction, especially with families. If your children are too young to visit Cairo and Luxor but you want to show them that there is more to Egypt than the seaside resorts, then a visit to Mini Egypt Park is an excellent and fun way to do so.

Great idea while you are in Hurghada, is to immerse into the local atmosphere and authentic Egyptian culture by going to the vibrant fish market and fruit and vegetables market. You can browse through traditional handicrafts, spices, rich selection of fish, fruits and vegetables while soaking in the energetic atmosphere of the markets.

The most modern and attractive part of the city is the new marina, a lively place filled with cafes and restaurants. A beautiful place to hang out and socialize.

Excursions and Day Trips

Hurghada is an excellent base for various excursions and day trips. A trip to the city of Luxor is highly recommended. Here, you can explore ancient sites like the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple, The Colossi of Memnon and the Queen Hatshepsut temple. Usually, the tours are done by bus with an early pick up ( around 4,30 am ) from your hotel. The whole tour takes about 16 hours with 5 hours to drive in each way. Nevertheless, visiting Luxor is a must when you are in Egypt.

Another must-do excursion is to the Pyramids of Giza in Cairo.

From Hurghada you can go to Cairo either by bus or by plane. Since Cairo is not close to Hurghada, the bus tour takes about 20-22 hours to go and return.

Even though the excursion is intense and tiring, many tourists do it as the Great Pyramids are one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and are Egypt's most famous attraction.

During the tour you will have the chance to marvel at the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, Mykerinus, and the Great Sphinx.

Enjoy the Valley Temple by riding a camel with many outstanding photo stops.

You will also visit the extraordinary Egyptian Museum, the world's largest archaeological museum dedicated to only one civilization. The museum exhibits collections of 120,000 objects that are more than 5,000 years old, including the entire collection from Tutankhamun's tomb, exhibited for the first time in its full glory.

The opening ceremony of the new Grand Egyptian Museum is scheduled for 1st, November 2025, even though the opening has been postponed many times. Currently, objects and artifacts from the old building are transferred to the new building. I visited the old museum in mid October 2025, so unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to see the new building of the museum which looks very nice and modern.

One highly recommended adventure is a desert safari to explore the stunning landscapes of the Eastern Desert. These safaris often include thrilling activities such as:

  • Quad biking: Ride across the desert terrain for an exhilarating experience.

  • Camel riding: Experience the desert the traditional way.

Plenty of marine excursions are also offered to nearby islands. Most popular day trips are to the Paradise Island, Orange Bay, Nemo Bay, El Guna and Mahmya island.

You will enjoy not only the pristine beaches and clear waters, but also beautiful coral reefs with plenty of colorful fish that are ideal for snorkeling.

In Conclusion

Hurghada, Egypt, is a destination that beautifully blends relaxation, adventure, and culture. Whether you want to explore the depths of the Red Sea, wander through ancient wonders, or simply lounge on the beach, Hurghada ensures holiday experiences that will create lasting memories.
