Siem Reap, Cambodia - Pub Street

Siem Reap is a popular resort town in the northwestern part of Cambodia and is a gateway to the Angkor region.

Today, Siem Reap has a large number of hotels, resorts, restaurants and businesses closely related to tourism. This is much owed to its proximity to the Angkor temples, the most popular tourist attraction in Cambodia. Tourism is a very important aspect of the economy of the town and many local people are occupied working in the tourism industry. Most tourists in Siem Reap come to visit the Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, (about 6 kilometers north of the city), and other Angkor ruins. The most popular street in Siem Reap is Pub Street - the place to be in town. A very lively and vibrant area packed with tourists and locals. It is the center of nightlife with lots of bars, lounges, restaurants, and nightclubs. Very popular places are the night market and the art gallery where you can find beautiful pieces of art, especially paintings. You can bargain on the price and get eventually a very good deal. They do a roll-up so you can easily carry them overseas. You can also bargain on the price of any jewelry at the many shops in the area. However, some merchants are not willing to reduce the price. Just try out your luck. You will also find many massage studios where you can get an hour full body massage at a very low price. Food and drinks are also relatively cheap. Draft beer is only $0,50. Overall, a very nice and lively place to entertain and hang out in the evening after having a long day seeing the Angkor temples.
